Welcome!

Welcome to the new Kanagatucko Station website. You can peruse our growing collection of handmade items at our LookSee and other pages—or read the ruminations of Old Albert, the station’s curmudgeon-in-chief.

At the bottom of the final page, you can examine the famous and historic Timberlake expedition map of this part of the country. Note the location of Kanagatucko Station in 1761 as shown on the map.

The links at the bottom of each page are there for your convenience. Hopefully you’ll find something to your liking.

Something for my fellow Anderson Countians

I’ve put two PDF documents on this website for you to download. Both are scans of an actual 1897 Anderson County Fair & Stock Association program/pamphlet. Very interesting. In the larger file, the images are at a higher resolution (“1897 Anderson County Fair.pdf”, 9.5MB). In the smaller file, the images have been compressed and are not as sharp if you enlarge it any (“1897 Anderson County Fair optimized.pdf”, 2.7MB). I recommend the larger one.

I found this program about 50 years ago in the old Young house on Eagle Bend Road—just before the house was demolished after it was empty of all furnishings, etc. This pamphlet and several old magazines (Harper’s Bazaar was one) were scattered around in an upstairs closet. Unfortunately, I’ve since lost the magazines. The pamphlet is a fascinating peek into life in Clinton and the county just before the turn of the century.
